Dehumidifier works great

I purchased the Alorair Sentinel HD55P dehumidifier to replace a unit from another brand that we had had in our basement floor for about five years. The other unit was noisy and I had it on a schedule that would shut it off during sleeping hours. This unit is much quieter and the best part is that it doesn't have a loud start/stop noise; it's more of a monotonous drone-like sound. I have noticed that the humidity indicator percentage number on the unit is higher than the reading on a separate measurement device I have for indoor temperature/humidity. The other sensor registers about 7 to 8 percentage points lower usually. This is ok since I had that same reader with my old dehumidifier and the percentage was always higher. At least I know this Alorair unit works better, I just wonder why the readings aren't closer though. I'm writing this review after setting up the unit only two months ago so we'll see how well it does in the long run. At this time, I am pleased with the value this product brings to combat indoor humidity and mold that we can experience while living on the East Coast.

I recently brought this for my parents basement bc it gets moldy in the summer time. They have been using it for a few weeks now they like it so far. Its not that loud and it has two options for drainage one for ground and one for top and comes with the pipes. I would recommend this to anyone for basement or any other space that you need moisture. My parents are sent for the summer and no more moisture.

I purchased this in 2023 and it has reliably run since then. I took it out recently (late 2025) for a routine cleaning (which they recommend). As an engineer, I was impressed with its condition 2 years in...no rust, components designed and assembled in a way that made cleaning and maintenance work. I reassembled everything as when I restarted I found it tells easily was not with the unit. I called customer support and was surprised to get an actual person after just a couple rings.. She was very helpful and asked me to send a short video of what the machine was doing, which I did. She sent it to their engineering team which assessed that I had a fault in the motherboard. And said that they would send me a new motherboard and include a link to YouTube video showing how to replace the board...Alorair interactions always got swift responses (within 24 hrs) from very friendly folks. When my motherboard arrived, I watched the video and had no problem unplugging a dozen or so quick connectors and reinstalled the motherboard in less than 10 minutes with no special tools. The engineering team had correctly diagnosed the problem and my unit is back in service. I was pleasantly surprised by the outstanding customer service and robust product design!

Humidity greatly reduced...

The humidity in the crawlspace was very high and was causing higher humidity readings in the house...got the Sentinel HDi100 in place and running (easy setup) and in 2 to 3 days, the humidity in the crawlspace went from 85% to 55%...the humidity in the house returned to a safe level as well... After a year, had an issue...with maintenance now back in contact customer service, they were very helpful in resolving the problem. It was a quick fix, which up and running again... My brother helped with servicing the unit and was very impressed with how well the unit worked and with the customer service...said he would be getting one soon...
